SAINT REMY MARKET

Every Wednesday the Provincial town of Saint Remy de Provence in France, is transformed into a bustling marketplace.

Stalls are up and running at 7am, and those in the know arrive early to secure a parking place close to the action.

Stall holders fill the winding alleys, and take over the old town squares.

Fresh produce – garlics, radish, tomato, and berries are a feast for the eyes, while one could get their fill just sampling all local products on offer – cheese, cured meats, olives, dried fruits and herbs, just to name a few.

The smell from massive paella and pippie trays waft through the winding streets.

French shopping baskets, espadrilles, material and a huge array of local crafts can be found. You would be hard pressed to not come away with a much loved treasure.

Make sure to visit the Saint Remy markets on an empty stomach and enjoy the spoils on offer!

Saint Remy de Provence is about 20km south of Avignon – it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region and I can’t wait to go back!
